Chumy Bear: Bina

Materials Needed:

• Love Knots yarn (Light worsted/Dk weight)

Shade 00013 (approx. 30 meters

• Size 2.5mm crochet hook

• Size 6mm safety eyes

• Yarn needle

• Stitch marker

• Fiberfill for stuffing  

Skill level: Beginner

Finished item size: 3.5 inches tall

Gauge: 1inch= 7 stitches, 1inch= 7rows

Leg 1:

Crocheted in continuous round.

Round 1: 6 Sc in magic ring. Do not join (6)

Round 2: Inc in each st around (12)

Round 3-5: Sc in each st around (12)

Round 6: (Sc in next 4 sts, Dec) around (10)

Finish off.

Leg 2:

Proceed with the instruction of Leg 1 (round 1-6). Stuff both legs.

Do not finish off and continue working. To join both legs;

Body:

Round 7: Sc in each st around (Leg 2) Sc in first st of Leg 1, and each st around (20)

Round 8: ( Sc in next 4 sts, Inc in next) repeat around (24)

Round 9-11: Sc in each st around (24)

Round 12: (Sc in next 2 sts, Dec) repeat around (18)

Roud 13: (Sc, Dec) repeat around (12)

Head:

Round 14: (Sc, Inc) repeat around (18)

Round 15: (Sc in next 2 sts, Inc in next) repeat around (24)

Round 16: (Sc in next 3 sts, Inc in next)repeat around (30)

Round 17-21: Sc in each st around (30)

Insert safety eyes between Round 19 and 20, five stitches apart.

Round 22: (Sc in next 3 sts, Dec) repeat around (24)

Round 23: (Sc in next 2 sts, Dec) repeat around (18)

Round 24: (Sc, Dec) repeat around (12)

Round 25: Dec around. (6)

Finish off. Using yarn needle thread through each stitch and pull tight to close the opening of the head.

Arms: Make two.

Round 1: 6 Sc in magic ring (6)

Round 2: (Sc, Inc) repeat around (9)

Round 3: Sc in each st around (9)

Round 4: (Sc, Dec) repeat around (6)

Round 5-6: Sc in each st around (6)

Finish off. Cut yarn leaving long tail for sewing arms to the body later.

Ears:

Crocheted in continuous round.

Round 1: 6 Sc in magic ring. Do not join (6)

Round 2: Inc in each st around (12)

Round 3: (Sc in next 3 sts, Inc in next) repeat around (15)

Round 4: (Sc in next 2 sts, Dec)x3, Sc in next 2 sts, Dec (11) ** The last decrease is done in the last (15^th) st of round 3 and 1^st st of round 4

Finish off. Cut yarn leaving long tail for sewing ears to the head later.

Snout:

Crocheted in continuous round.

Round 1: 6 Sc in magic ring. Do not join (6)

Round 2: Inc in each st around (12)

Round 3: (Sc in next 3 sts, Inc in next) repeat around (15)

Finish off. Cut yarn leaving long tail for sewing snout to the face later.

Using Black thread embroider nose detail on snout.

Scarf:

Chain 50. Finish off.

Assembly:

•Sew the arms between Rounds 12 and 13.

•Sew the arms and ears aligned to the bear’s feet.

•Sew the ears below Round 24 of the head.

• Sew the snout 1 round lower between the eyes.

• Place the scarf around the bear’s neck and tie a ribbon.
